While mostly seen in flight, there are many square miles of shallow river segments. I observed a flock of over 100 birds at about 1000 ft over the local airport that began to circle in a thermal. I watched until they were a small speck in the sky. Bald Eagles sightings have doubled in the last year. At least two or three a week. They are deceptively large.
