Love the “hummers” here in my birth state. Have several feeders out. It’s a decent amount of work to keep the feeders clean and fresh, bee free, especially in the warm and very hot months. They can go bad quickly and you don’t want to hurt them. Especially when you go on vacation. I try and have fresh flowers in pots that they like for when I have to take them down. Or get somebody to watch my (lol) hummingbirds

I am completely enchanted by the, at least 2, tiny, tiny Hbirds at my relatively new feeder. They are not (yet) brilliantly colored. From my window view they appear mostly tan, with short straight bills and short tails. They always fly from and to the same trees and seem to rotate visits. I live in Minden, just south of Carson City. They have been heavily feeding so I'm assuming they are loading for migration puposes. I will really miss them during the cold months to come.

This is the first time I have put out feeders for hummingbirds - I am amazed and delighted with the response. We have at least 8 and maybe more birds visiting the feeders - though they seem to spend more time chasing each other away than actually drinking the nectar I have to refill both feeders every few days. I am setting out a camera set on slow-motion video in the hopes of being able to identify these charming visitors. I suspect we have at least 3 breeding pairs nesting in the trees in our yard, and our 3 dogs have been diligent in keeping cats off the property.
