I lived in Michigan and some of my hawks looked like that. Black patch on eye and white belly and the black on belly was very faint, could hardly see it.

They fly in after the sparrows that are feeding around my chicken coop. The belly is white, no distinct markings/ladders, the back feathers are all grey but the face has a black mask. Assuming it’s the male, it also has black down the chin. Assuming it is the female, just the black mask. The 3 juveniles are just white belly’s and grey wings. I have searched and searched for some type of picture that comes close but noting with the black eye mask. Any help would be appreciated greatly. I do have pictures.
